ALADDIN PERSIAN RESTAURANT IN ROPPONGI HILLS
If you are hanging around Roppongi Hills and looking for a halal eating place, Aladdin Iran-Arab restaurant is a good option. The restaurant is located exactly in front of Roppongi Hills. This place is open seven days a week. The staff accept customers without reservations if there are not many people; if you come in a larger group a reservation is recommended. It will take 9-12 minutes walking from Roppongi Station.
Entering the place, you will find a clean, bright and cozy restaurant, dominated by wooden decorations especially on the windows. A small wooden elephant standing near the window reminds us of the Aladdin fable.

Kubideh kebab is my favorite food in this restaurant. It is minced lamb meat mixed with chopped onion and some spices. This kebab is grilled long fillet. The aroma is really nice and mouthwatering. It is very easy to chew, good for kids, tasty and delicious. The kebab was served with pickled cucumber, onion, garlic and cut fresh mini tomatoes. One portion costs 1250 yen.

Normally kebab is accompanied by steamed rice. The grain is longer and not sticky compared to Japanese rice. The rice tastes good with a little salt on it. The Persian rice is 350 yen.

You can also have nan flatbread instead of rice. It can be used to scoop curry or other thick soup instead of using a spoon. It is crispy on the surface but fluffy inside and slightly charred. The taste is yummy and the aroma is nice. It costs 300 yen.

If you prefer soupy food, you can have Gormeh sabzi. It is a healthy soup, containing spinach, red beans, mixed herbs and a small cut of lamb. The soup is delicious, with a lightly sour and salty taste. The price is 1250 yen.

Usually for a drink people choose Dough, yoghurt mixed with cold water, which has a combination sour and light salty taste. It helps to clean and neutralize the mouth from strong- flavored, oily and smelly food, and costs 450 yen per glass.

Aladdin also offers a lunch buffet, in which you can take rice, soup, salad and some other dishes on the table. You can eat as much as you wish. The waitress will come around to each diner and serve a piece of Kubih kebab. This set includes desert such as cakes, coffee and hot tea, and costs 1200 yen per person.
I found Aladdin to be very worthwhile. The place serves tasty food, it’s cozy and offers good service at an affordable price. This restaurant can be recommended both to people who love to explore and try international cuisine and to those who miss Persian food from home.
