In this global megalopolis you can find everything from traditional temples to department stores stacked wall to wall with the latest electronics. Tokyo is a traveller’s paradise and the city literally has something for everyone. When it comes to traveling with children however, just the thought of Tokyo's crowded streets and subway system, is enough to put many families off visiting Japan's capital city.
KidZania, however is a fun and educational option for families visiting Tokyo. About two-thirds the size of a real city, KidZania is a special space where kids can safely try out real world jobs and activities and even get paid. There are over 90 jobs and activities on offer, including Airplane Host, Security Guard, Fire Fighter, Dentist, Baker and almost everything in between. If you are looking for a half-day activity that will entertain and educate your children then KidZania is a perfect option.
Upon arrival kids and their parents get an introductory tour of the city of KidZania, and the system of "FunDucation" (Fun education) is explained. Kids receive their Job Schedule Card as well as a "travellers cheque" for 50 kidZos (the local currency of KidZania), and are also set up with a KidZania bank account. When kids want to try a certain job they give the Job Schedule Card to the staff member and their place is reserved. During the welcome tour children have a chance to complete a trial job as a group and receive payment in kidZos, which they can deposit into their bank account. KidZos can be used to pay for some activities that cost money (such as making edible ice creams) and to buy products in KidZania department stores. Once the tour is over the kids are then free to explore the city and try as many jobs and activities as they want.

KidZania is a fun and inquisitive paradise for kids. It gives them the opportunity to try their dream jobs in a safe environment with professional staff that are very kind and helpful. Staff members actively supervise all activities to ensure safety and also teach children certain technical skills needed to complete each challenge. What's more, the entire city has an authentic feel to it due to the presence of 60 real life sponsors.
Although most activities are generally in Japanese, KidZania also offers some special English activities with staff members fluent in English. Furthermore, every Wednesday there are extra English-speaking staff and over 30 activities are conducted in English!
KidZania is located on the 2nd floor of Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu, which is walking distance from Toyosu station.
KidZania is open everyday and operates in 2 shifts; 9am to 3pm, and 4pm to 9pm. KidZania is rapidly gaining popularity and bookings are essential! It is possible to make general reservations and find more information online.
