Sembei is a type of Japanese rice cracker.
They come in various shapes, sizes, and flavors, usually savory but sometimes sweet.
Kineya is a rice cracker shop located in the historic Azabujuban shopping street, Tokyo.
They are proud to present their rice cracker made from selected ingredients since the store has opened.
Sometimes rice crackers are considered as an old fashioned snack, but in this store, they sell deep fried pasta beside their rice crackers.
Tradition meets modern.
The store owner masterfully blends old school art of Japanese rice cracker with new concepts like fried pasta.

The store offered a simple booth inside of Shinagawa station for a few days in beginning of May that gave me an opportunity to try some of their items.

There were three different unique flavors such as salt, squid ink, and napolitan.
As you can see, the squid ink flavor colored fully black like charcoal.

The salt flavor tasted perfectly salty of course with a hint of chilli.
Lightly crunchy and unstoppable.

Squid ink flavor on left side is with an essence of seafood and an aroma of squid.
Not as it looks, it is slightly salty.
Great to eat with a cup of tea or a glass of wine.

On the right side is napolitan flavor.
The texture is crunchy, but surprisingly you can taste tomato ketchup.
A superb combination.

When you are in Japan, stay off potato chips.
I want you to try these deep fried pasta!
