The Future is Here, City of 2050

So I went to the Miraikan, and on today’s article, I am going to share with you guys about another exhibition, a permanent exhibition in Miraikan, which I found really interesting. 

The exhibition is called : Create Your Future, Lifestyle 2050. 
Located on the 3rd floor of the main building. 


 
Speaking about the year of 2050, it is not something extraordinary for us, it’s only 35 years ahead of us,
Have you ever wondered how future will look like? 
Flying cars maybe? 

 

Welcome to Itookashi City, the city of 2050! 
Premiered on August 2011, and supervised by Shinichiro Ohgaki (University of Tokyo, emeritus) 

As you can see on the right side of the photo above, there are some machines with bright lights on them. 
Firstly, go there to register yourself as one of the citizen of Itookashi City. 


 
You will get a ticket like this, which contain a password you should type on the small screen in front of the city miniature. 

 

Here is the screen. 
This screen will be your eyes, when you stroll around the Itookashi City. 

 
You should stand in front of the screen within range, so that the Kinect located on the top of it can read your movement. 
Yep, Kinect is a kind of smart machine with smart sensor, 
in this case, your hand will be used as a cursor. 

To move around the city, to select in between options, and so many others. 
Just like Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man movies you know.
 

Inside the city of Itookashi, you will meet the kind people of Itookashi. 
Each people will have different errands, which you can do to collect more information about lifestyle in the future. 

Technology, biology, human resources and so many others. 

And you can also choose whether you want to do the game in English or Japanese, 
no problem! 


 
For example, I did this mission on collecting transgenic silkworm from this pink-haired girl,
just hover your hand to the buttons that appear on the screen, like this. 

 

After you are finished collecting the cards, you will get the information about how nutritious those worms are, and how they are going to be used in the future. 

The future, is now.

Let’s explore the future, starting from the Itookashi City!
