Today’s word is “Ken(県)”. “Ken” is translated as “prefecture” in English.
As you know, Japan consists of one “To(都)”, one “Do(道)”, two “Fu(府)s” and 43 prefecture(県)s called To Do Fu Ken(都道府県).
“Ken” is one of local government administrative organizations in Japan. Each “Ken” has its local prefectural organization including a prefectural assembly and many kinds departments relating to resident living. Top of the local organization is called a “Governor” who operates local administration.
