Today’s word is “Ken(県)”. “Ken” is translated as “prefecture” in English.

“Ken” is one of local government administrative organizations in Japan. Each “Ken” has its local prefectural organization including a prefectural assembly and many kinds departments relating to resident living. Top of the local organization is called a “Governor” who operates local administration.
