There’s plenty of delicious “Amai” (甘い) things to eat!
“Amai” (甘い) means “Sweet” in Japanese.
It’s used to describe sweet food or fragrance.
Sweets are often called ”Amaimono” 甘いものor “Amami” 甘味 if it’s Japanese traditional sweets served in an old shop.
If you’re suddenly craving for something sugary just say :
“Amai Mono ga tabetai”: 甘いものが食べたい(“I want to eat something sweet”)
Amai is also used for “sweet and sour” :
“Amazuppai”: 甘酸っぱい
And for “sweet and spicy”:
“Amakarai”: 甘辛い
Sweet soy sauce, sweet alcohol or sweet curry is also called:
“Amakuchi “: 甘口
And if it’ too sweet for you, just use “Amasugiru”: 甘すぎる
