Bird Watching sites near Tokyo: Gyotoku Bird Observatory Park

How about some bird watching?

Just hop for Gyotoku in Ishikawa city, Chiba prefecture which is right beside Tokyo, to the Gyotoku Bird Observatory Park (Chiba-ken Gyotoku Yachôkansatsusha).

Located in front of the sea, this park offers a perfect environment for watching sea birds like gulls and also hosts a bird hospital with various species of birds.

Staff from the bird hospital explains to the visitors many interesting facts and trivias about the birds living within the park, as well as the birds that travel to the region.

Did you know that seagulls from Tokyo were migrating to Siberia?

The park entrance is free and there’s also plenty of space to relax, make picnic, or play sports.

Don’t miss the cherry blossoms in April as well!

There’s also a cute stray cat. I wonder what they are here for though...

The park is located 25 min on foot from Gyotoku station along Tokyo Metro Tozai Line.

You can also take the bus from the metro station.
