Ever tried going on a date but stopped short because a “dinner and a walk-in-the-park” just sounds too…passé?
Next time you feel this way and happen to be in Tokyo, try bringing your loved ones to Tokyo Tower
(Or, Asian Eiffel Tower as I like to call it) for an unconventional, romantic night out.
Tokyo Tower was inspired by Eiffel Tower’s lattice structure, and although painted bright red and white (it is meant to be a communications tower), still evokes a sense of nostalgic romance to whomever beholds its architectural beauty.
There are two observatories in the tower: Main Observatory (150m) and Special Observatory (250m).
Adult prices for the Main observatory is ¥700, while the Special Observatory is ¥900.
Note that in order to get to the Special observatory, you must first purchase a ticket to the Main observatory. Hence, total cost to the Special Observatory is ¥1600.
Try to get to Tokyo Tower in the late afternoon to stake out a good spot to watch the sunset, as both observatory floors tend to get crowded with tourists in the evening. On a good day, the views in both observatories will not disappoint you or your special someone, I promise!
Located in the Shiba-koen of Minato-ku, Tokyo Tower is an easily accessible tourist spot.
To get there, you can either stop at Onarimon Station on the Mita Subway Line or Akabanebashi Station on the Oedo Subway Line.
It is open from 9:00am to 9:00pm (last entry to Special Observatory) or 9:45pm (last entry to Main Observatory).
