Japan, The Socks Paradise!!

Walking around the streets of Japan even during hot summer, you will find the Japanese people usually like to match socks with heels of socks with sandals.
At first it seemed like a very weird practice for me, might because I seldom see people wear socks like that in Malaysia.

After living for quite some time in Japan, I found that socks are actually a key role in deciding how others will perceive you. In Japan, during the old days, visiting houses of others with bare feet is considered not really polite because they perceive bare feet as something unclean that should be hidden. (Perhaps it is true sometimes because long nails and some dirt can be seen easily from bare feet),in the Japanese society nowadays, it is still a very common practise to prevent revealing bare skin of your feet especially in formal occasions such as business meetings and wedding ceremonies.

Even a kind of design (stripes) can have so many variations. Picture took at Tutuannna , Shibuya.

I guess this well explains why Japanese people still wears leggings/stockings/socks under the big hot sun. Well the good news for shoppers is that, you can always get good quality and well designed socks everywhere for cheap prices! There are always the best socks for you to match according to your style! Usually a pair of fine socks cost around 350 Yen and 3 for 1000 Yen. After trying the Japanese way of matching socks with heels or sandals , I find sometimes socks really help in modifying the shape of the feet and also prevent me from getting hurt from some shoes that don’t really suit my foot.
