A wave of young people dancing around Harakuju and the very Yoyogi park wearing very colorful clothes and make-up were called Takenoko-zoku, “the tribe of bamboo shoots”.
They used to walk around with big stereos, the music style itself was close to disco. It is said that in their prime, there were more than 2,000 practitioners of the Takenoko Style.
And guess what!
