Back in 2015, every time I walked through the class in Campus or sat in the cafeteria, I often heard my friends and people around said: "Let’s eat Udon again!", "It was a really delicious Udon ever, right?", "We should go there for Udon after class, okay?”. Which was really made my mind full of curiosity, where they buy Udon—kind of Japanese noodle—in Makassar? So I decided to find out and apparently, the Udon restaurant they mean is Marugame Udon, a Japanese Restaurant that had just opened in early May 2015 and located in Panakukang Mall, Makassar, Indonesia.
After a year harbored the desire to eat in Marugame Udon, finally after a series of complexity in the laboratory exam yesterday, I managed to set foot in this Japanese restaurant with my friend who is an Anime Lover.
The hunger and the sound of rumbling stomach suddenly appear while I was reading the menu row. Marugame Udon is not only serving Udon, but there are also various options of rice and tempura on its menu.
My choice finally fell on the Beef Curry Udon. It is Udon with slices of meat doused with thick curry sauce, and my friend chose the Chicken Katsu Curry Udon for lunch this time. After ordering, the Udon was made quickly and served with fresh. Then the costumers allowed choosing and taking their own desired Tempura as a side dish. This restaurant serve various tempura, there are Egg Tempura, Tofu Skewered Roll, Beef Croquette, Chikuwa, Menchi Katsu, etc. with prices ranging from IDR10.000 to IDR15.000.
If you finish take your tempura, next destination is the cashier to order drink and pay for the dish. The drink I chose was Lipton Ice Tea, because of its free refill. Hehe

Hap! When I put chopstickful of Udon into my mouth, my mood was immediately improved drastically. The thick soft noodles, sweet sliced beef and tasty curry sauce, immediately made my heart fell in love and cheer "Oishii!". As if the price of IDR50.000 for a student is not a big problem. Yep! The prices of Udon and Rice in Marugame Udon are in range from IDR30.000 – IDR50.000, quite big for a student, but worth to its satisfying taste.
About the Tempura, it also has delicious taste, especially Skewered Tofu Roll which became my favorite. Moreover, Lipton Ice Tea that taste sweet also made me really satisfied with Marugame Udon’s dish. No wonder this restaurant which just turned 1 year in Makassar, every day flooded with costumers.
Besides its good taste, the fast and satisfying service, this restaurant also has pretty cool decorations and of course it has nuances of Japan. Additionally, there is no doubt about this restaurant “halal” status. When entering the Marugame Udon, Halal banner is ready to welcome you.
Well, there is no reason for you to not eat in Marugame Udon. This restaurant is also available in other cities of Indonesia. Truly recommended for you, minna!
