Hi! Navio here.
How's summer? Are you guys having fun?
After playing outside the whole day, in this kind of hot weather, you need to chill yourself, right?
Taking a shower. Done.
Turning on the Cooler. Done.
Eating an ice-cold manjuu. What??
hahaha.
So today, I'm gonna share this amazing sweets from Japan. Not the normal manjuu that you all might already know, a different kind of manjuu called 水まんじゅう (Mizu Manjuu).
Don't you love the appearance of this manjuu? Jiggly, transparent with colorful fillings.
Then I bet that you will love the inside as well! :)
Mizu Manjuu is a traditional Japanese sweet which is made from starch (ワラビ).
As you can see, these manjuu have purple fillings inside.
What do you think they are?
Correct!
Red beans paste. A perfect sweet to replenish your mood!
Do you know that sweets make us happy and energetic?

Mizu Manjuu is usually stored like this if you eat it in a restaurant, and served in a clear medium bowl of ice-cold water and ice cubes.

Storing a Mizu Manjuu at your house is totally a different thing.
Who owns a wooden pond created especially to store manjuu in their house?
I don't. haha.
Because Mizu Manjuu is made of starch, it's best to leave them at room temperature.
It's recommended to store them inside a fridge before serving, but be careful there.
You might not want to leave it for too long, because you will make them hard and taste not so good.
Remember the thing that I said at the first place?
JIGGLY. hahaha.
Where to buy? They're everywhere. I found these Mizu Manjuu at Keio Shopping Mall, Shinjuku Station.
¥196 for one manjuu.
¥778 for 4 pcs.
¥1167 for a box of 6.
A friend of mine also said that they’re also sold at convenience store like 7-11.
So? What's your snack for the day? :))
