There might be a lot different answers, but I bet Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Sky Tree will be on the top of the list.
Both of the two symbolic towers are located in Tokyo, yet different in shapes, colors and meanings. Let’s have a look at these two beautiful towers.
TOKYO TOWER

Tokyo Tower, with the formal name of Nippon Denpato, used as a signal tower to send electric wave to TVs and radios in household around the country.
It was built in 1958 as a sign of Japan’s post-war prosperity. It is modeled off of the Eifel Tower and is 332.9 meters.
A lot of people living in Tokyo have so much emotional feelings torwards Tokyo Tower, as it inspired many generations to fight for their struggles in Tokyo while illuminating their ways to the future warmly with the red and yellow lighting.
There is also a movie called 「Always: Sunset on Third Street」which was based on a Manga, telling the story of a small community in post-war Tokyo when the Tokyo Tower was built. It was recommended as a great nostalgia work for post-war Japanese “Good old days”.

TOKYO SKYTREE

If we take Tokyo Tower as the symbol of the “Good old days” of Japan, Tokyo Sky Tree would be the representation of the “new” Japan.
Tokyo SkyTree was built for a more powerful ability of sending electric wave to TVs and radios.It was started to construct from July 2008, and finished by February 2012.
It is 634 meters tall which is about double of Tokyo Tower’s height, and is now the tallest structure in Japan, as well as the tallest tower in the world.
Different from Tokyo Tower, Tokyo SkyTree has quite a variety of the lighting system. It changes it’s light and shade, or even colors when it meets special day in Japan or by the change of the seasons.(Which Tokyo Tower also has special lighting shows in festivals and holidays)
In the end, both of the two towers in Tokyo are symbolic tourist spots in Japan, so don’t miss them, and find one which you think represents better for Tokyo, or Japan!
