Because there are many American military bases in Okinawa, there are a lot of chances that you can feel American culture in town. Especially in this large entertainment complex called “American Village” in Chatan, central part of Okinawa. Noteworthy large ferris wheel is right in the middle of it and it is easy to spot. The American theme is found at many establishments, such as fashion shops selling American brand clothing or restaurants specializing in hot dogs and hamburgers.

Kids park called Mihama Kids Park. Despite the name, this is an indoor facility, so if the weather weren’t so great outside and not being able to play around at the beach, this is a perfect place to take your kids.

There are tons more things to do around here in American Village that I can’t even fully describe. It also can’t be mentioned without talking about its bustling nightlife and street performers that top off the total atmosphere of this little slice of American culture on Okinawa Island.
There is also Sunset Beach only a few steps away. The beach is a good place to catch the sunset and is a popular spot for barbecues.
So it is almost like visiting a whole different town and you don’t want to miss this amusing opportunity when you are in Okinawa.
