Hokkaido Remains Chilly in Spring
The Climate
In Hokkaido, as it’s still the end of winter in March, do keep in mind that there are days when the temperature is sub-zero. Spring mainly begins in April and is still very chilly.
The Temperature
Average temperatures lie around just a little below 1℃ in March, 7℃ in April, and 12℃ in May.
Clothes to Wear during Spring in Hokkaido
Since it’s still very cold in spring, do bring a good mix of winter clothing, waterproof shoes (as the snow starts to melt and you’d want to go outdoors), and long-sleeved outerwear. Also, pack hats and short-sleeved shirts for when it gets slightly warmer May onwards.
