Tsukiji, A Japanese Food Heaven

The famed Tsukiji (築地) Market will soon be moved to Toyosu, Koto Ward in October 2018, two years later than their planned schedule. Thanks to the fact that you’ll soon be unable to see Tsukiji in its original form, people visiting the inner market have increased. Tsukiji is famous for their markets and their tuna auctions. Watching the auction is optional, and unless you plan on spending a pretty penny on some tuna, we wouldn’t recommend it. (as of June 2018)

Tsukiji opening hours

Due to the congestion affecting business, the opening hours have been shifted, meaning you may visit from 11am onwards on days when it is operating for viewing. The market is closed on Sundays and Wednesdays. (as of June 2018)

The Tsukiji fish market tuna auction starts at 5 am, we would suggest that you stay at a hotel nearby if you want to be part of the crowd to observe the chaos of the tuna auction. (as of June 2018)
