Sakura has long been likened to springtime, romance and youth. It also makes us think of how delicate and wonderful life can be. Where could be the best places to sit down and drink to the sight of sakura blossoms in Tokyo?
The best spots of tokyo cherry blossom Shinjuku Gyoen
The Shinjuku Gyoen could be said to be one of Tokyo's most popular park. It was initially designed to be the garden of a feudal lord during the Edo Period. Designated in 1903 as an imperial garden for the imperial family to entertain guests and recreation, it was opened to the public in 1949. Located just a short walk from Shinjuku Station, the park entry fee is 500 yen for adults, 250 yen for students and seniors (over 65 years old) and free for children (junior high school students or 15 years old and under).
There are many varieties of sakura blossoms here, some of them bloom later, so you could still see the sakura petals fall if you’re slightly late in the sakura viewing season.

Yoyogi Park
One of Tokyo's largest city parks, Yoyogi park is famous for various events and outdoor activities. Entrance to the park is free, and you can rent a bike while looking at the natural scenery in Yoyogi Park. There are often many people who gather here to meet fellow club members or play sports.
If you’re here in autumn, the golden ginko tree forest is also very beautiful and captivating. Definitely worth another visit if you’re visiting Tokyo. Since it is next to the Meiji Shrine, you can also take photos of the shrine on the way back to your hotel.

Inokashira Park
There’s a beautiful shrine, a pond and most importantly, entry for Inokashira Park is free too! The park lights up at night for viewers to take in the spectacular view of the sakura blossoms at night, a practice which is known as yozakura. It would be a great time to say how much you appreciate the ones you love as this is the perfect mood for sharing your feelings.
In the morning, you can take a boat ride to look at the sakura blossom from the pond.
If you’re a big fan of animation, the Studio Ghibli museum is near the area and you can visit it after viewing the sakura blossoms. Just remember to buy the tickets ahead before your trip as the tickets to Ghibli Studio is sold out very, very often and cannot be purchased at the museum.

Sumida Park
Asakusa is not only famous for their cultural experiences, but also their sakura blossom viewing. In Spring, around 600 cherry trees blossom in the Sumida Park, from Azumabashi Bridge till Sakurabashi Bridge. It’s a sea of pink no matter where you turn! You can bring a bento along and a picnic mat for an impromptu lunch at this beautiful spot.

Watching the Tokyo Cherry Blossom in 2020
There are many more wonderful parks where sakura-viewing is possible such as Rikugien park and Ueno Park.
