What is The Ancient Orient Museum?
The Ancient Orient Museum is Situated 15 minutes on foot away from Ikebukuro station, on the 7F of Sunshine City building’s Bunka Kaikan.
The museum opened in 1978 (Showa 53). This was the first museum in Japan to specialize in the ancient Orient. It exhibits around 5,000 materials mainly from West Asia and Egypt, from the Paleolithic era to the era of the Sasanian Empire, and there are many Syrian artifacts as well. Furthermore, the museum collects, stores, and exhibits materials related to the ancient Orient, so you can learn about the history of the ancient Orient. It is a place that can be enjoyed by kids as well as adults.
