As is the case for most Asian countries, summer in Japan is hot and humid. Yes, it might not be as stressful when you are on a vacation, but wouldn’t you rather go to a place where it’s much cooler and refreshing as well? Here are 4 healing waterfalls of Japan that could do just that.
1. Kawazu Nanadaru, Shizuoka
The seven waterfalls of Kawazu are one of the most famous tourist destinations for domestic travel, thanks to the various literary works that take place here. Deai-daki, Kani-daki, Shokei-daki, Hebi-taki, Ebi-taki, and Kama-daki are all within walking distance, each providing a distinct scenery, but all worth traveling to.
2. Shiraito-no-taki, Nagano
Shiraito waterfalls in Nagano is another famous one. The underground water that falls out of the mossy rocks create a curtain of thin white strings, hence its name which means “white threads”. The natural mist that fills the place makes you want to take a deep breathe and remain their for a few more minutes.

Amagi, the 25m tall and 7m wide waterfall gets its name from a Buddhist temple that used to stand right next to it called “Joren Temple”. Now, the waterfall is known throughout Japan as the fall that comes out in the famous Enka Song, “Amagi-goe”.
4. Manai-no-taki, Miyazaki
Also nominated in the “100 Waterfalls of Japan”, Manai waterfalls is a very unique place where you could enjoy rafting while watching this majestic waterfall. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, and they also have a light-up during summer nights, which is an event you don’t want to miss.
